Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped shallots
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh mint
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions
  • Cooked jasmine rice or lettuce cups for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground turkey and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add chopped shallots to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes until softened.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together fish sauce, lime juice, brown sugar, and chili flakes.
  4. Pour the dressing over the turkey mixture in the skillet and stir to combine.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in fresh mint, cilantro, and green onions.
  6. Serve warm with jasmine rice or in lettuce cups.

Notes

  • Adjust chili flakes to your preferred spice level.
  • For extra crunch, add some toasted ground rice (khao khua) to the salad.
  • You can substitute ground chicken or beef for turkey.
