This quick and easy tuna pesto pasta recipe combines canned tuna with vibrant pesto for a flavorful and satisfying meal. It is perfect for a weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces pasta (any shape)
  • 1 (5 ounce) can tuna in olive oil, drained
  • 1/2 cup prepared basil pesto
  • 1/4 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain, reserving 1/4 cup of pasta water.
  2. While the pasta cooks, combine the drained tuna and pesto in a large bowl.
  3. Add the cooked pasta to the tuna pesto mixture. Toss to combine.
  4. Add the halved cherry tomatoes and Parmesan cheese. Toss again.
  5. If the pasta seems too dry, add a tablespoon or two of the reserved pasta water until it reaches your desired consistency.
  6. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  7. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh basil leaves if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a squeeze of lemon juice.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables like spinach or bell peppers.
  • This dish is also delicious served cold as a pasta salad.
