Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
Instructions
- Season chicken with salt and pepper, then coat with flour.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook chicken until golden brown on both sides, about 5 minutes per side.
- Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.
- Add remaining flour to the skillet and stir to make a roux. Cook for 1 minute.
- Slowly pour in chicken broth and milk, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
- Bring the gravy to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 5 minutes.
- Return chicken to the skillet and simmer for another 10 minutes, or until fully cooked.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of thyme or rosemary to the gravy.
- If the gravy is too thick, add more broth or milk to thin it out.
- Serve over mashed potatoes or rice.
