Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 500g ground beef
- 400g canned chopped tomatoes
- 150ml beef broth
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 300g spaghetti
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
- Parmesan cheese for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef to the pan, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned, draining any excess fat.
- Stir in the chopped tomatoes, beef broth, tomato paste, and oregano. Season with salt and pepper.
- Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and cook for at least 30 minutes, or longer for a richer flavor. Stir occasionally.
- While the sauce is simmering, cook the spaghetti according to package directions until al dente.
- Drain the spaghetti and divide it among serving plates.
- Spoon the bolognese sauce over the spaghetti.
- Garnish with fresh basil and serve with Parmesan cheese, if desired.
Notes
- For a deeper flavor, let the bolognese simmer for 1-2 hours.
- You can add a splash of milk or cream to the sauce for a creamier texture.
- Leftover bolognese can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
