Simple Ground Turkey Tacos are a quick and flavorful meal perfect for a weeknight dinner. This recipe uses lean ground turkey seasoned with common spices, served in warm tortillas with your favorite toppings.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 (1 ounce) packet taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 12 taco shells or small flour tortillas
  • Optional toppings: shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream, salsa

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground turkey and onion, cook until turkey is browned and onion is tender, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
  3. Add taco seasoning and water to the skillet. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the liquid has mostly absorbed and the turkey is well coated.
  4. Warm taco shells or tortillas according to package directions.
  5. Spoon the seasoned ground turkey mixture into the warm taco shells or tortillas.
  6. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of taco seasoning to your preference.
  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper with the taco seasoning.
  • Leftover turkey mixture can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
