Ingredients

- 1 pound ziti pasta
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook ziti according to package directions until al dente. Drain.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta, 1 cup mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Spread 1/2 cup marinara sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Layer half the cooked ziti over the sauce.
- Spread the ricotta mixture evenly over the ziti.
- Top with remaining ziti and cover with remaining marinara sauce.
- Sprinkle remaining 1 cup mozzarella on top.
- Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute cottage cheese for ricotta.
- Add cooked ground meat or sausage for extra protein.
- Leftovers keep well in the fridge for up to 4 days.
