Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 whole wheat burger buns
  • Lettuce and tomato for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, red onion, garlic, feta cheese, parsley, oregano, lemon zest, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  2. Form the mixture into four equal patties.
  3. Heat a grill or large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the burgers for 5-7 minutes per side, or until cooked through and no longer pink in the center.
  4. Serve the burgers on whole wheat buns with lettuce, tomato, and a dollop of yogurt sauce if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of dried mint to the burger mixture.
  • If you don’t have fresh herbs, you can use 1 teaspoon dried oregano and 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley.
