Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound spaghetti or your favorite pasta
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook the pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving ½ cup of pasta water.
- While the pasta cooks, melt the butter in a large skillet or pot over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Do not let the garlic brown.
- Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the garlic butter.
- Toss the pasta to coat evenly. Add the reserved pasta water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the sauce reaches your desired consistency.
- Stir in the chopped fresh parsley and grated Parmesan cheese.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Serve immediately.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the garlic.
- Freshly grated Parmesan cheese works best for this recipe.
- Any long pasta shape can be used, such as linguine, fettuccine, or bucatini.
- If you don’t have fresh parsley, dried parsley can be used, but use half the amount.
