Ingredients

  • 500g ground chicken
  • 1 small onion, finely grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (for sauce)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt to taste (for sauce)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a bowl, mix ground chicken, grated onion, minced garlic, cumin, paprika, black pepper, salt, parsley, egg, and breadcrumbs until well combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into small oval or round koftas.
  4. Place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake for 20-25 minutes until cooked through.
  5. For the sauce, mix yogurt, minced garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, and salt in a bowl.
  6. Serve the koftas hot with the creamy garlic yogurt sauce.

Notes

  • If grilling, cook for 4-5 minutes per side until fully done.
  • You can substitute ground turkey for the chicken.
  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon to the kofta mixture.
