- 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in flour and salt.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in buttermilk and vanilla extract.
- Pour filling into the unbaked pie crust.
- Sprinkle with nutmeg.
- Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool completely before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use full-fat buttermilk.
- To prevent the crust from browning too much, you can cover the edges with aluminum foil during the last 15-20 minutes of baking.
- This pie is best served chilled.
- Store leftover pie in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
