  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, and cloves.
  3. Add softened butter, applesauce, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  4. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  5. Let cake cool completely.
  6. For frosting, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Spread over cooled cake.
