- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, and cloves.
- Add softened butter, applesauce, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let cake cool completely.
- For frosting, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Spread over cooled cake.

- For a lighter texture, sift dry ingredients before mixing.
