- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (for whipped cream)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in milk and vanilla until dough forms.
- Drop dough into 6 equal portions on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden. Let cool.
- Toss strawberries with sugar and let sit for 15 minutes.
- Whip cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
- Slice shortcakes in half and layer with strawberries and whipped cream.
Notes
- Use cold butter for flakier shortcakes.
- Let strawberries macerate for better juiciness.
