A simple and flavorful one-pot dish with mushrooms cooked in soy sauce and rice.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup white rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse rice and set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pot over medium heat.
  3. Add garlic and onion, cook until soft.
  4. Add mushrooms and cook for 3 minutes.
  5. Stir in rice, soy sauce, black pepper, and salt.
  6. Pour in water and bring to a boil.
  7. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.
  8. Turn off heat, let sit for 5 minutes.
  9. Drizzle with sesame oil if desired, then fluff rice and serve.

Notes

  • Use low-sodium soy sauce if preferred.
  • You can add vegetables like carrots or peas.
  • For extra flavor, top with green onions.
