- 1 cup white rice
- 2 cups water
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 onion, diced
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
Instructions
- Rinse rice and set aside.
- Heat oil in a pot over medium heat.
- Add garlic and onion, cook until soft.
- Add mushrooms and cook for 3 minutes.
- Stir in rice, soy sauce, black pepper, and salt.
- Pour in water and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Turn off heat, let sit for 5 minutes.
- Drizzle with sesame oil if desired, then fluff rice and serve.
Notes
- Use low-sodium soy sauce if preferred.
- You can add vegetables like carrots or peas.
- For extra flavor, top with green onions.
