- 1 lb potato gnocchi
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 cup beef or vegetable broth
- 1/2 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves
Instructions
- Cook gnocchi according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Heat butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add sliced onions, sugar, salt, and pepper. Cook until caramelized (about 20 minutes).
- Pour in broth and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add cooked gnocchi to the skillet and toss gently.
- Sprinkle Gruyère and Parmesan cheese on top.
- Broil for 2-3 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh thyme before serving.

- Use homemade or store-bought gnocchi.
- For a vegetarian version, use vegetable broth.
