Ingredients

- 4 cube steaks (about 1/2 inch thick)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup vegetable oil for frying
- 2 cups milk for gravy
- 2 tbsp flour for gravy
- Salt and pepper to taste for gravy
Instructions
- Mix flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika in a shallow dish.
- Whisk egg and milk in another shallow dish.
- Dredge each steak in flour, dip in egg mixture, then coat again in flour.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Fry steaks for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
- For gravy, pour off all but 2 tbsp oil from the skillet. Whisk in 2 tbsp flour.
- Cook flour for 1 minute, then slowly whisk in milk until smooth.
- Simmer gravy until thickened, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Serve steaks hot with gravy poured over top.
Notes
- Use a meat mallet to tenderize steaks if needed.
- Keep fried steaks warm in a 200°F oven while making gravy.
- For extra crispiness, double dredge the steaks.
